Such a blog slacker.

This was going to be a journal of the life in a year of the Landon’s but alas, that has not happened. I am just as bad at blogging as I am at journal and scrapbook keeping. But just to catch anyone up that is interested, here are some pics from our summer break.

Easter

Well the Easter bunny visited our yard this year on Saturday.  I think this is the boys favorite part of Easter.  They love running around and trying to figure out where all the eggs are hidden.  Because they are getting older, I think the easter bunny is going to have to start hiding them better.

Much to their surprise, one of the eggs contained tickets to go to the Jazz game that night!!

It was great fun for all, even though the Jazz got beat.  Brenden got his foam finger and so all was good.  Lots of screaming left me a little hoarse.

Easter day the Easter bunny decided that since spring break was the week following, he would leave little clues to what the Landon family was going to do the following week.  Clues included,  a new swim suit, a little plastic fish that looked like Nemo, a golf ball, a fishing lure, and a science experiment.  The boys had to then guess where and what we were doing.  Of course they got the swimsuit one right away…but they did not know where we were going swimming.  Monday morning we packed up and headed to Park City!  We went and stayed at the Marriot Mountainside resort.

If you want a great place for the family to go and stay, this is it.  It is right on the ski hill and they have these wonderfully warm outdoor pools.  How cool is it to sit there and swim, outdoors, while others are fully decked in their ski outfits and spending the day on the ski hills!!! It was so much fun.  The resort also had aN activities center where the kids could go and do crafts, participate in a guitar hero competition, etc.  They all enjoyed it! LOVED staying here and wished we could stay longer.

The next day we headed down the mountain to go to the living planet aquarium.  Clue: the plastic Nemo.  The boys love looking at all the fish and lizards, frogs, and snakes.  What is not for a boy to love…oh and don’t forget the sharks.  I think the sharks and the sting rays are the kids favorite!

Wednesday:  Should have been a day fishing with dad.  Clue: fishing lure.  But it snowed.  So the boys hopped into the car and went to a giant fish store in Draper instead.  There were a ton of cool fish and now the boys all want their own fish tanks.  Hopefully it will warm up this week and they will be able to take their fishing trip.

Today is Kaleb’s birthday!!!! Happy birthday!!!! He got to choose what we did today and he wanted to go see Monsters and Aliens and then we are headed over to the Mayan for dinner!!

Tomorrow we will head to the children’s museum,( clue: science experiments) and Saturday the week will round out by going to the golf course and hitting a bucker of balls, (clue: golf ball).  It has been a great way to spend spring break! Our own little “staycation”.

Spoiled!

So last week was my birthday and my parents came into town to stay with us. My mother had said that my birthday present was just too heavy to mail, so they had to bring it to me personally. Well, apparently, it was all a rouse. My dear husband had instead planned the most amazing weekend for me, and my parents were there not to see me, but instead to watch the kids. On Saturday, hubby told me he needed me to go with him to the store to pick out my present. Needless to say, I was not very excited about that, who wants to pick out their own present. So we get on the road and start heading toward SLC. Well, being the brat I am, I tell him that we should not leave my parents there with the kids for that long. I was pretty upset. That is when he informed me that we were going to LA to see the final LA production of WICKED!!!!!!! I am a HUGE wicked fan. I saw it in LA about a year and a half ago and have been addicted ever since. In August I went back to LA with my sister for her birthday to see it again. Well when I found out that their final production was to be on my birthday, I teased Galen and told him he would have to take me there. Little did I know that he would follow through.
We went to the hotel Le Merigot in Santa Monica and it was beautiful!! They brought me up this amazing dessert to wish me a happy birthday. I was truly pampered. Then the next day we hung out, went on the Santa Monica Pier and then headed to see Wicked. I have no words for that performance!!! It was truly magical. In comparison, this night was by far my favorite. They brought back Megan Hildy and Eden Espinoza and they were phenomenal!!! I will never forget that night!!!! It was amazing! I think I had goosebumps for 3 hours, and I still get goosebumps thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Galen!!!!!!!!!
My marvelous birthday ended the next day when I flew home to the bitter cold and Galen headed into work! It was 80 degress in California!! How nice is that?! But it was wonderful and perfect! My hubby is the best, and I am so spoiled!!!!

Happy Birthday JJ.

It was Jaeden’s birthday yesterday and he turned the big 9!!!! Yeah.  This was a family party year so we went to Boondocks, and then took him out to eat on Saturday.  Yesterday I kidnapped him from school and we went to lunch!! And boy did we eat too much!!! I love you bud and your dad and I are so proud of you!! Happy Birthday!!!

My baby turned SIX!!!!

How did this happen????  I KNOW I am not old enough for my baby to turn six….or am I???  We had a really fun birthday party for him.  We decided that we were going to have a jungle safari theme.  Fortunately, my 8 year old saved me from utter humiliation when he informed me that I was making a HUGE mistake because we had a zebra pinata and well, zebras DO NOT live in the jungle! So, alas, it turned into an animal safari party.

The first thing the kids did was find out that my home had been taken over by snakes.  It was there job to wrangle those snakes for me.  So they got thier flashlights and went to the basement to find and capture all those nasty snakes.  They had a lots of fun and the snake hunt was a success.  Then each kid got a ballon tied to their ankle and they had to pop the ballon to find their prize.  Several of the ballons were a little stubborn and it was hilarious to watch how clever and determined these boys were to pop those ballons.

And then it was that poor zebras turn to get it!! Those kids were brutal but the zebra held on through 3 rounds.  But finally, he lost a leg and then the whole thing was over.  Poor zebra.

Then it was pizza, presents and of course CAKE!!! Check out this awesome cake that my friend Kelly made.  We loved it and it was oh so yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Kelly!!!! You are awesome!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY little man!!!! We love you!!!!!!!

Pumpkin carving

For some crazy and ridiculous reason, it has become a tradition in our family to carve pumpkins on Halloween day.  Why would I want to add more chaos to such a crazy day?  Well I have to admit that I put it off as long as I can because I think it is sooooo gooey and messy.  This year, the weather was so nice that we were able to do most of the carving outside, so that made cleanup a lot easier.  The kids love carving pumkins and this year, they each chose a monster to carve.  Jaedens was so heavy, it would not register on the scale at the grocery store.  After a afternoon of carving, we had a wonderful Halloween night.  Happy Halloween! I can’t believe it is November already!

And here is Bren in his scarey costume!!! LOL!!  JJ and Kaleb decided they wanted to be football players! You would think they were tired of their uniforms but NOPE! They wore them with pride!

My silly boys!

So I needed a  couple of pictures of my boys making silly faces and they did not fail me.  We were doing a mock photobooth at enrichment and I needed to make a sign announcing my store.  So after school I set them down and said be silly.  This is what I got.  These pictures make me smile.  Bren proceeded to tell me that he makes a GREAT hot dog out of his tongue.  LOL!!

Our first snow!!!!!!!!!!

So on Oct.  12th we woke up to a sea of white.  Of course my two youngest can’t wait to get out and play, and all I can think of is BRRRRRRR!!!!! So they donned their snow suits and headed out first thing.  They are the best of buds and so they decided to make snow buds.  The snow was melting fast, but they got the job done.  So here’s to the first “snowbuds” of the year.  Now bring me back the sun.

We WON!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, this is another football post, but this one is about Kaleb.  What can I say, our lives right now are football.  Last night’s game was a nail biter!!!!!!!!!!  The game was tied and went into a double overtime, but our team dug deep and pulled out a win at the last minute.  I am so proud of them!!!!!  Kaleb got a couple of tackles and I couldn’t be happier.  These guys have been working hard all year and have a great group of coaches.  Playoffs are coming up so stay tuned for those results.  Here are a couple of pictures…

UMMMMMM…Kaleb!! Games over here!!! LOL!!!

Here is Kaleb chewing on his mouth guard again!!!!! We have gone through 4 of these things!!!!

Jaeden and football

So this year has been Jaeden’s first year playing football.  He is one of the biggest kids on the team so of course he plays tackle.  I think he is finding it hard to get tough and tackle when he has such a gentle soul.  But he is loving it and I am so proud of him.  I have not been very good at taking pictures at his games but I am going to promise and try harder. Currently his team has only lost one game!!! Go Knights!!!  Here are a few from a week ago.  And stay tuned, I will take some of Kaleb’s game tomorrow night and post them.
